Includes correspondence with Earl Gregg Swem and Francis Butler Simkins as well as typescripts, revisions and galley proofs. Additional material, 1981-1989, is the correspondence of Jones with Ludwell Lee Montague; and papers relating to the history of Gloucester County, Va, especially the correspondence of the Gloucester County Bicentennial Celebration Committee and a manuscript by Jones about Harriotte Lee Taliaferro Montague.

Francis Butler Simkins (1897-1966), native of Edgefield, S.C., was a historian. He was educated at the University of South Carolina and at Columbia University.
